Hosting your own Site
So I am now using Dyn Dns services to host my own server. It is a challenge and a lot of fun at the same time. I will have more details later, but the most difficult step so far has been securing the server and getting email operational. Email servers tend to dislike the dynamic address that most ISP's provide.
It is however a little computer doing a lot of work. It is hosting this site, and the various projects I have going on. It is playing host to my email. It is streaming media to the web and locally to my Apple TV2, but not through iTunes, as well as various other devices. Coming soon it will be an ssh server, full email, sftp, webdav, git repo etc.
Instructions for how each of these tasks are accomplished will be here soon. It is a lot of fun to setup and hope fully someone will improve what I've done here.
Installed WordPress
Just got through the install for WordPress and it is easier than I thought it would be. The only complication that I guess I had was connecting to my local MySQL db. Hope this all goes well. I'm going to start posting on my MySQL certification status as well as my other projects that are going on. Yay!
